Corporate Management Aptitude Test (TAGE) - Coefficient 3
The
TAGE test has been developed by the FNEGE (Fondation Nationale pour l'Enseignement
de la Gestion des Entreprises).
Set
up in 1968, the FNEGEs purpose is to develop training in management on a national
and international level and to improve its quality.
Aspects
assessed
The
TAGE includes six tests: two memory tests (each includes the reading of two texts
in a limited time, followed by a series of questions), two quantitative data processing
tests, two logical tests, relating to verbal, digital and spatial data. These tests
take the form of a multiple choice questionnaire (MCQ).
The
TAGE measures three aspects of candidates performance: verbal, calculatory
and logical.
Verbal
aspect
This
is assessed by means of memory tests. Two tests are of an economic nature and two
deal with general culture subjects. The questions asked relate either to practical
information in the texts, or to interpretations requiring textual comprehension.
Event memory and semantic memory are also tested in equal measure.
Calculatory
aspect
This
is assessed by means of quantitative data processing tests. Questions relate to situations
or problems of a specific nature. The purpose is to assess the formulation of the
response rather than the comprehension of the mathematical language used.
Logical
aspect
This
is assessed by means of logic tests. Some of the questions relate to letter and number
series. The purpose is to assess comprehension of the rules for building the two
series. Other questions relate to sets of spatial information.
NB:
The corrected tests of the last competitive examination are accessible on this site.
2.
Foreign languages (2 obligatory) - Coefficient 4 (2 per language)
Every
student must take the tests in 2 languages, English being obligatory. These tests
take the form of a multiple choice questionnaire (MCQ). The choice of languages offered
to French-speaking candidates is as follows: English, German, Spanish, Italian, Russian,
Chinese, Japanese, Arabic, and Hebrew.
These
tests are designed to assess ability to comprehend a text, knowledge of grammar and
the extent of the candidates vocabulary.
3.
Synthesis - Coefficient 3
Several
documents, all relating to the same subject, are handed to candidates. They must
read them and make a structured synthesis of a limited volume.
This
test aims to measure candidates ability to make a rapid analysis and structured
synthesis of a set of documents and to develop an argument in a concise manner. Skills
in written expression and the ability to use precise, suitable vocabulary are also
assessed.
1.
Interview - Coefficient 5
To
gain better understanding of the candidates personality, the Panel uses a video
recording made by the candidate on a current affairs subject (see screen test).
The
purpose of this interview is three-fold:

Understand
the candidates motivations

Detect
his/her potential

Assess
his/her open-mindedness and general knowledge
2.
Screen test - Coefficient 2
In
front of a camera, the candidate must analyse and take a position on a current affairs
subject drawn at random and completed in 45 minutes explaining the
reasons for his/her choice.
3.
Language orals - Coefficient 3 (1.5 per language)
The
candidate must prove his/her ability to converse fluently in the two chosen languages
on subjects relating to current political, economic and social affairs or his/her
interests.
